Hi, It was a great show on Saturday. To describe the least - Creativity at its best..!! As the music show by a group called Vinapra started, it sent every nerve racking. We jumped on to the front of stage and started dancing (well, almost) and jumping and howling. I can still feel the vibration in my bones. Then a DJ started playing remixes after remixes and it was an electrifying environment with smoke and disco lights. And for once, nobody reminded themself of their gender. After all the weekend merriment am looking forward to this friday when I'll be starting my week-long vacation covering rini's marriage in Madurai to spending until the next weekend in Chennai.

Hi, In office today. Not much by way of work... but need to make some arrangements for our team for Dhun, which is a Hindi word meaning "Rhythm" - thats what the Infy, Bangalore's cultural show is traditionally named. It seems this is the 4th Dhun. Though I'm not taking part in any event, I've volunteered to volunteer in the behind-the-screen activities for our team. After all, they are as important as the on-screen show-offs, ain't they... The 32 buildings here are divided into 5 groups of 6 buildings (2 groups will have 7)... and it will be a contest between these groups. All the usual stuff like dumb charades, quiz - General and film, skits, dance, fashion parade etc., and also an exclusive show by some music troop at the end of the day... Heard some VJ is also coming for that music show. It is scheduled to be from 3PM to 10PM later today... Looking forward for that... As I was walking past the amphitheatre-like designed stage where hoards of big Hi-Fi speakers are getting installed, I've already begun to feel the chill of it. As of now, I'm just ralaxing and cooling myself off hearing what has become one of my all-time favorite songs - "The winner takes it all" by Abba.

Bon jour, I was going through the members list in msitmmb. There were a few ids which were bouncing. I have decided to remove those ids and then re-subscribe them. Thanks to for welcoming me ranjini and ram…and yes…congrats ganja…this is my formal congrats apart from the one I said to u in person…ha ha. We had a nice time here when bala also joined us during his visit for this CP interview. We were kidding ganja and really ganja was so happy that day when he was almost confirmed in CP but he was not ready to outburst and show his excitements before us. I inferred that from him and bala too…and we both started pulling his legs and were kidding. Oh!! Man!! jax is taking me down the memory lane. and for those who cannot decipher wat he meant by asking me to look on top-right... here's the story... Once upon a time in a place called Madurai there was a campus where people used to study. (atleast... that was what they were supposed to do) ... And there were two little people called Hem and Haw... er... jax and kicha... who were soo proactive that they wanted to do a project that emobodies the future... And so their hunt began... In the meantime, they understood the significance of XML standards and chose the XML-Signature as their project... or rather, an implementation of XML-Signature using C#... it was with great difficulty and hard work that they completed the project... after all, searching in google ain't that easy... ;-))

Hi, There's a cultural event this saturday here in infy. It seems it happens every year around this time. Had a long day yesterday. Went on a location finalisation with my CEO and a couple of others. Started from office at 10:00, came back by 9:00. Clocked up almost 200 kms yesterday. Had a great weekend. Murtuza and Rajesh are here... Saturday had a good lunch with ram and met them both and sinoop. And we talked and talked and talked and talked standing at the sides in MG Road before dispersing for the day. Sunday was better. Swetha and her sister joined us and we had big lunch. And then we walked and walked and walked and walked and went with Rajesh to his friends home exactly in time for a coffee, and made our way back home late at night after a short visit to rajesh's place. Me and Ramgopal, did what we have come to do quite often now-a-days - Buy a book. Whether we read it is a different matter altogether, but it all adds up to the kitty. The Jorgensen Center for Information Science (Building No. 80) is the under graduate computer science dept. computer lab of CalTech. Interestingly, the computers are named after currencies there.

If the above info is correct, read on. There is a printer near you. If you are facing the printer, there would be a vending machine to the printer's left. I don't know the exact distance but it is there.

It doesn't publish the post. It gets published only when someone like me hit "Publish all recent posts", which I often do. You should hit the "Post and Publish" button, which you might see if you are using IE6 on the top corner. Otherwise you can go to the publish status tab. If it shows "no posts published in this session". hit the publish recent button. Everything would be fine. If you're still facing difficulties, let me know. And if you can remember what you have typed, please type your four paras for us without considering the pain. Valli, I also have lost quite a number of posts like you did in the past. So I came up with a solution. I usually type my posts in Notepad and Copy it and paste it in the post window. That way, I don't lose anything because of vagaries of the Internet. Back after a sober weekend. In fact, didn't have more than 2 hrs of work on saturday. I just came to while away some time. The weather was a beaut that day. I joined with a coupla my friends and walked around the campus. It was such refreshing. Saw M:R in the evening before going home. Could make a lot of sense watching it first time itself, as I had already read a lot of reviews. Its really a unique deal with fiction. And to realise how much truth a fiction could radiate, u need to watch that film. If u also concentrate on the conversations there's a lot more to enjoy. Some conversations are still lingering in my mind... "You see only what you choose to understand" "Comprehension is not a requisite for cooperation" Neo to the Oracle: "You already know my choice. How is it a choice then? What if I do not choose?"... Oracle: "Even that is making a choice" and lot more...

Hi, To add to jax's view on discussions... Just like I had mentioned as my views, in one of my earlier mails, every entity that is part of nature will undergo transformation and death. "Discussion" is just another entity in nature. And its bound by the same laws that bind every other entity. The "process" of discussing is another entity and its going to have its own tranformations and end. We notice this at the very basic levels of interactivity. Ans its in nature to transform whatever it binds. Given this, its nothing surprising that our discussions take different forms at different times and sometimes come to an abrupt halt or take a different direction altogether.

Ranjini had asked why our discussions all 'go to den'. Why? My take on the issue: Rini, It is difficult to maintain the same level of thinking right through a discussion that too a discussion that is interspered with lots of interferences in the form of time zones, geographical boundaries and other things. Why, it is difficult for people sitting face to face to continue a discussion for more than two hours. Tell me what end should a topic be discussed. The Third Law of Online Discussions says "There will be a death of the discussion after a point of time." The corollary says that after such an event, it is not wise to continue a discussion. If this law is not valid, we would still be discussing about the "which came first, the chicken or the egg?". Hope you get it. Is it interesting? Maybe we should try a discussion on "the effectiveness of harakiri vis-a-vis other traditional self killing methods" or "the correlation between lunar orbit and the growth of deep-sea anemones". Both seem to be interesting. If Darwin's theory could be brought into context here, you'll find that only the fittest survive or only the interesting threads survive. The Fourth Law of Discussions (also known as the Law of Threading) states that "discussions will lead to discussions". This discussion is an example. More after lunch,

Hope u got the context. Life is another matrix. There are invisible relationships between the many visible elements of life. You always seem to be understanding things but still never understand anything. Hindu philosphy calls precisely this, as "Maya". The Vedas state that whatever is happening all around is Maya, a dream which Lord Vishnu sees as He sleeps. Maya, as a concept, is both fluid and unstable. It exists but, at the same time, it is fictitious. This explanation is analogous to The Matrix philosophy, which states that we live in an illusory world and only an unplugged/awake world is the real world. In the movie, Neo, Morpheus and Trinity often leave the real world behind and, by computer wizardry, enter the Matrix. But it is not their physical beings, but their mental projections which fight all the battles. This recalls the Vedanta concept of ‘mithya’, the belief that only the Almighty is real. As jax put it, Matrix (both parts) abounds with theological references and has a deep profound meaning than what looks at first sight. Hail Matrix...!!!

From the pages of our history... Time: Tuesday, June 11, 2002 Location: CED Campus, Madurai Event: Project Viva It was almost 4 months after we all had met. The exams got over on Feb 26th and slowly we parted for our project. And it was at this time that we met for once... and for last. The day when the entire class was present. No one was trying to escape out into city bunking the class... after all, we were all waiting our turn into the Audiseshiah hall/Old Lab-IT incubater to take up our viva... As people walked out with a blushing smile... there were people swarming around him/her and wondering what happened "inside". And some waiting with bated breath and turning the pages of their documentation like the last minute hunting for points to remember during the exam days... Atleast 6 or 7 cameras including one digital, that were capturing this final moments of an era. Yes, it was never going to happen again. The class to its full strength and everyone raring to have their go... With some emotional moments also... (well, not quite ;-) ) some tears from a few people's eyes... and looking back they'll now know, how silly they were to cry... and a final dose of Gowri Ganga and the famed walk thru the railway station... as the sun began to sink for the day... the noises too began to diminish... there were the really emotional touches of bidding adieu to their dearest buddies... just hoping that sometime later in life they might meet again and spend some great time as they did here... All the world's a stage. It was fortunate for all of us to have played a part together in that scene called MS(IT&M)... and now, we are off to move to the next scene and a new part to play and new persons to play with... But the impact the earlier scene has created on all of us is here to hang on to us for long. The very fact that there are still so many around to read this expression of mine, seems an indication that the scene is, after all, not over... and that the Part-2 of it is still continuing ... and may it continue for long...

But the stench still haunted me. I spat on the ground to get away from the smell." The above is not a part of any story that I am writing. It was a dream I had yesterday morning. I had woken up aound 6:15 am (I know the time beacause I never remove my wristwatch except when I am having a bath.) As usual, I turned the other side and went back to sleep. The next thing I remember was spitting on my pillow and this dream. Spent the entire morning thinking of the dream and what it meant. The entire picture was so clear that I can describe it in detail from the number of columns in the temple (14) to the clouds in the background. As usual Sunday morning church. After that, we decided to go to a prayer meeting being held in other church. Not that we were interested in it, but because the persons conducting it are very good musicians. We love all thier songs and have sung it in the church. So it was like meeting one of your role models or music idols. Actually, we had planned on staying there for a couple of hours, listen to a couple of songs and sing with them and then leave. But the atmosphere felt so good that we decided to stay there till the end (6 pm). A truly wonderful experience after a very very long time. I was still thinking of my dream and realised the temple could be me; the elephants - the unrequired things in my life. Once you are gone (the temple being destroyed), the things in your life , bad (the elephant carcasses), the good (the serene surroundings of the place) will be left in this world. I am still thinking of other possible messages that could be present in the dream. Anyone knows to read and interpret dreams? Your help would be appreciated... Hi, Back after a nice cozy trip home. ram, unkitta onnum maraikkala... I've been writing some poems since pretty long back and have not volunteered to tell anyone abt that coz I never took much heed about this. It's just been my way of talking to myself. Nothing more...Nothing less... But once upon a time in 1st yr sometime I happened to show some of them to rini and I don't think I took up to show anyone after that. Don't ask me why... as I said, I never gave any heed to this... And abt ur view on the discussions... we may not be doing too many things in action to show off our points. But such discussions are nevertheless vital because that is what such forums are meant for. Its not just to tell that I got up in the morining...I brushed my teeth... I slept at night... who benefits from just giving the daily updates... But discussing such issues there has been atleast a few things that we cud ponder abt and learn various viewpoints and enrich ourselves. I, for sure, have learnt a few things from this series of discussions. Let it not just be something which tries to update others on what they've been doing everyday since the start of the day. Dear Rajesh, My remarks about puppet shows is that they have evolved over the years to suit the modern world. Yes, the olden art is still alive. Consider it in the this way, Humans have evolved from apes (Science) and apes are still alive, but are a dying species. So... Another discussion starts... Regarding the environment, it is good to note that people are taking an interest in it after such a long time. What shall we say is the reason behind environmental pollution. Modern Technology or Man? That is the question which needs to be addressed. Is Man polluting the environment or is the industries polluting it? It is true that the environment has been degraded over the last two centuries since the start of the industrial revolution. But the quality of life has also improved during the same time. No one dies of small pox now. I would say that Man is the reason behind the environment pollution, not because he is using technology; but because he is misusing it. Valli, I am happy you took the example of a physical balance, cause you will never get the same result everytime. You have to notice it, analyse it before you get an answer, which then is an approximate weight. You might a different result from the person next to you. It is upto to the individual to weigh up the balance between the past and the present. And remember the physical balance is supposed to be free from any external influence, whereas life isn't. What I can gather from Rini's first post is that, she feels we have made a clean break from the traditions of our ancestors. We have nothing to show about them to the future generations. Reading kicha's reply, I can see why. Rini looks at the past with a socio-cultural (emotional) view, whereas Kicha was looking at the question with a scientific (rational) view. So when views differ, opinions differ. Speaking from a socio-cultural viewpoint, I agree with Ranjini. we have been moving away from several of our traditions, but mind, not all. There are still a lot of currents lying within us that bind us to traditions. There are several things that we say we are modern but still follow tradition or at times superstitions. Please note, I don't equate tradition with superstition. You have said that they don't fit in with the modern world. I disagree. What is modern world? The society we live in, the techological advancements that surround us? Rini, If you look at anything that you classify as modern, be it in the field of 'science, art, literature, social culture, technology, architecture, individual perspective', you find that the old traditions still survive in one form or the other in them. The old Koothu, that Rajesh had said, has maybe morphed or evolved into puppet shows, cartoons, and now animation. But the underlying thread or purpose is the same, use of images to tell a story. You had said that we are not following tradition in our conduct, way of living and societal culture. I would disagree. If you can understand what modern world is, you will find that nothing has changed. They have just evolved. Conduct of a person depends on the individual. A person may feel that they are behaving right, while it might seem wrong to the other. As an example, consider this scenario, Tilak sent a mail thinking it would make people laugh, but what did the others feel. A mismatch of expectations and reality. A perfect example of Expectation-Reality gap. He expected something from you (laughter, humor). Didn't turn out so. You expected something from him (a good behaviour), You were disappointed. Now whose mistake is this? Tilak or the other individual? I can't comphrehend the "way of living' part. if you could elucidate more on that, it would be helpful. As for societal culture, Again perceptions vary. Let us take a common issue, say influence of western culture. I hear, see people talking that Indian society is being ravaged by the foreign cultures. Every culture has been influenced by other cultures surrounding it. Cultures do not vanish. They get evolved into something higher. If you take India, I remember reading some mail in the group about India. That it had not invaded any nation during the past two or three thousand years. I strongly disagree. Can someome enlighten me when did the concept of India come into the picture, the last two centuries. Before that, tradition says that we were fighting each other. Notice I said tradition, not history, because history can be rewritten anytime. So the idea of a united India has been brought by maybe the Mughal rulers, because they had conquered most of modern India, the idea was then taken up by the western invaders. And now we are speaking about a unified India, indian culture, ethos and a lot of other things. What happened to the cultures that were before this unification process. Again tradition says that there were dravidians and aryans in the north. Now what can be defined as Indian culture, the aryan way or the dravidian way. You'll see that the present Indian culture is really a amalgamation of all the disparate cultures that existed in India. Now the problem is that some people are trying to only a few aspects of this culture upon everyone. The above are just my views. You have the option of either agreeing with them, or disagreeing with them. A third option is also available. "Ignore." I'm feeling hungry typing this post. rini, I like to share my views on that loooong post on "carrying" on to future. I view it this way. If the stone-age man wanted to carry everything that "he" considered great arts (of his time) and if every following generation had been so meticulus in following what its ancesters taught was their best arts then it might have been difficult to envision if we wud have achieved this levels of progress in so many varied fields. It is no doubt vital to carry on tradition but, it is a natural phenomenon that tranformations occur and many things are at some point going to meet their natural death. From a different angle, it is an essential part of the nature-chain that anything (be it art or whatever) needs to die and new forms take over. I don't mean to say "kill"... but the natural phenomenon of death cannot be prevented but cud probably be prolonged and that too to a certain extent. So, there is no need to have an iota of guilt on "what we r going to carry to our future generation" ... we are loaded with a lot of stuff that we ourselves are not aware of. They are embedded by the ways our parents brought us up and by the environment and friends who have had their own significant impact in framing us. It lies in us not to blindly emulate but to learn from the examples of our predecessors and form an example for the next generation to study. And it also is in our part to encourage the future generation not to try to emulate us but to learn from our examples and frame themselves for their future... I'm not sure how much sense my views make to u all... But, after all, these are MY views and just wanted to share them.... and just a small quote to fin... Moral certainty is always a sign of cultural inferiority. The more uncivilized the man, the surer he is that he knows precisely what is right and what is wrong. All human progress, even in morals, has been the work of men who have doubted the current moral values, not of men who have whooped them up and tried to enforce them. Ranjini, if you notice, the blog title and the author name (updated) will now appear with a drop shadow and a glow effect. This was achieved by a simple CSS tag. View the source of this page. Search for '.title'in the source. You will find "filter: blur(add=true, direction=135, strength=6); width:100%;". This command allows the title to be displayed as such. If you want to know more about this, you need to undestand CSS. Maybe we can start a small tutorial on that for intersted persons. What do you say?

Ranjini, The website visitors shows the number of persons who have visited the site since May 29. Everytime someone visits the blog, it will get updated. Also it will store statistics like no. of visits, browsers used, OS used. For example, Yesterday Sinduja used a Win Me machine, Netscape 5. She visited the blog at Jun 04 2003 9:03:19 pm(her system time). I am trying out a couple of visitor tracking also. As for viewing the source code, you can just view as you do any webpage. You can save it and view it offline. Since blogspot allows only one page space, the css stylesheet is embedded within the page itself. Try experimenting with it offline. If you feel comfortable with it, send me the html, I'll put it. But all your cosmetic effects must not include an external file. With me, so far? I mean that you cannot add any images or external javascripts to do the fancy work. But you can include it inline. The trouble is the page gets loaded slowly. BREAKING NEWS.... My assignment to the RUAN project as a consultant has been cancelled So, I will be continuing with my usual course of work until something crops up later. Its good. BREAKING NEWS.... Kavitha cleared the exam with A grade and a CGPA of 4.89 (max. 5). Starting to Chennai tonite in Shatabdi Express. Congrats to Kavitha for clearing the test with such a great performance. The test is supposed to be very tough and it is really a commendable performance. And btw I had scored 4.17 when I wrote my exam in Mangalore. 'Management' Ponder of the day... I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow is not looking good either.

Hi, That was an amazing and factual explanation from VisBabu... great work da... Yesterday, I did the beta testing of my micorfone+headfone by calling up a voice-conversation b'n all my infy-friends. That was a great success... Just as u might expect, we didn't speak anything sensible... with 9 people from across Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai and Mangalore its obvious nobody is going to make any sense amid the commotion. But the purpose was to test the scenario and it worked like beaut. And, for all u people who have microfones, if u come online, just remember to enable voice...coz, technology is improving... after a week celebration of my brother's marriage, last friday i returned to my work. earlier valli told me that at any cost she ll attend my brother's marriage. so i very much expected her. but she hasnt... many of u know the reason for it, she is still angry with me regarding the statistics. so i m going to apologize for that. before that i hav to give proper reason to rajesh that y i put him in the group where ganja presents. rajesh's age falls on the starting limit of that group and ganesh's age falls on the ending limit of that group. eg., if the pass mark is 40, then we put the person who scored 40 and the person who scored 100 in the same group as passed persons. this is what happened in rajesh's case. i could have further divide that group. sorry rajesh. coming back to valli's case. sorry valli, i did the great mistake. i really felt sorry for that statistics. after seeing ur reply for that statistics only i realised that i made a blunder. what is that mistake??? i should have specified a group named 'infant' and put valli into that group. poor girl, she is crying like a child to get help from her friends(???) ranjini and sindu. but they havnt responded to her and proved the point that 'meahn makkal meahn makkalae'(great people are only great). valli i think this explanation is enough. from now onwards dont cry like a child, we wont do anything, dont afraid. we(myself & rajesh) are here to help u to find urself who u r??? so feel free to ask any help. Hi, This is turning out to be different. Some things that are never supposed to be happening. Two more people set out to prove that MS(IT&M) people are made of a different material altogether... Saturday,watched saamy film twice with Ramgopal. A good movie - New wine in old bottle - same old story of a tussle b'n a politician and a policeman but differently dealt with. And following that we went to Ram's office and on the got a Headfone+microfone for me and a earfone for Ram. Why did we buy it... Me, to chat with my infy-friends using the MSN's Intranet messeneger and of course, also to be used to do voice-chat in yahoo... and Ram, even better, with that earfones he has already sat overnight in office to (no..not for working) see a movie. Chattting and movies in office...!!! MS(IT&M) are surely made of different stuff... and today's Ponder of the day Why do companies offer you "free gifts?" Since when has a gift NOT been free?

Dei Ganja, 'Parthiban kanavu' was good a, Ada paavi, I was almost crying (in anger) on seeing the movie. The movie was moving on very smoothly, but the climax was a total disaster, right on expected lines. I was very much disappointe. BTW, there was no link to the movie and the title. As for the bio's, I have used a technology similar to this. So if you want the bio's t appear, then some other technology has to be used or javascript has to written, which I don't know. Anyway I'll try to see if there are other ways to do that. The blog design contains mostly CSS, Javascript slows down the loading time. I'll try something.
